About Cheek Augmentation Procedure:
Most cheek augmentation procedures involve an incision inside the mouth, so there usually is no skin incision. The implants are placed through a tunnel, into a pocket under the soft tissues, and immediately overlying the cheek bones. Various size and implants are available to fit individual differences and desires but for selected individual, certain bone cuts can be used.
If the cheek augmentation is performed with other cosmetic procedures, such as facelift, forehead lift or eyelid surgery, the implants may be inserted through the same incision made for those procedures.
Good candidates are:
Men and women, who have unpronounced cheeks. Your surgeon may recommend nose surgery and/or neck and chin liposuction in order to achieve the facial balance and proportion.
During your consultation:
The success and safety of your chin surgery depends very much on your thorough discussion with your consultation. Be prepared to ask and discuss about your expectations, desired outcome, health history and lifestyle.

Possible Risks and Complications:
Your plastic surgeon and/or staff will explain in detail the risks associated with surgery. You will be asked to sign consent forms to ensure that you fully understand the procedure you will undergo and any risks or potential complications.
Risks and risk rates vary from patient to patient depending on a range of factors. The risks listed below are possible risks associated with this type of surgery and are mentioned regardless of how remote the possibility
.....Possible risks of cheek augmentation include:
- Infection requiring antibiotics and in some cases hospitalization
- Shifting or displacement of the implant
- Numbness and other changes in skin sensation
- Permanent discoloration
- Anesthesia risks
- Possibility of revisional surgery
Surgery: time required 1/2- 1 hour
My Recovery:
The results of cheek augmentation surgery will appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside to reveal a more pronouncing balancing cheek.
Previous abdominal surgery may limit the potential results of a tummy tuck. In women who have undergone cesarean section, the existing scars may often be incorporated into the new scar. |
|
.....Cheek Augmentation Recovery time :
Limited chewing, talking and smiling: several days after the surgery
Liquid or soft diet: may be required for several days after the surgery
Bruising gone: 1 – 2 weeks
Back to work: 1 – 2 weeks
Following your physician’s instruction is key to the success of your surgery. It is important that the surgical incisions are not subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during the time of healing. |
