Lips are an important part of our lives. They frame your smile and express your personalities. Some people are satisfied with the look of their lips while other want to make their lips fuller. Due to the age and other factors, many people have lost volume in their lips, leaving them aged and wrinkled. Lip augmentation can enhance or restore a fuller shape to your lips and help you get fuller, more luscious lips.
There are various methods used to augment the lips, including the use of implants. The most common way to increase lips size is with the injectible fillers. Each of the fillers has its own set of benefits and risks.
The most common are:
- Collagen: For cosmetic surgery purposes, collagen is produced from purified bovine tissue collagen. This product can be produced in various thickness to meet individual patient needs. A skin test for allergic reaction is required before receiving collagen.
- Fat: Fat from your own body is another form of filler used to augment the lips. Because the fat comes from the patient's body, there is no risk of any allergic reaction occuring.
