About Lip Augmentation Procedure:

Lip augmentation with injectible fillers is a quick and easy procedure. The procedure is relatively painless, because topical anesthetis is usually applied. Variations to the to the techniques are used during lip augmentation, depending upon the type of filler.

For collagen injections, a skin test is performed weeks before the procedure to determine any potential allergic reaction. If there is no risk of allergy, the collagen is then injected.

During fat injection, both donor and the recipient sites are treated with anesthesia. Then, fat is withdrawn with a canula or syringe. When harvested and prepared, the fat is injected into the patient's lips.

For Restylene, the gel is injected into the inside of upper or lower lips in tiny amount with a very fine needle. As a result, it adds volume and shape to the lips.

Good candidates are:

Men and women, who

  • Want to achieve a more sensuous look
  • Want to have more balance facial features
  • Want to have the lost volume and shape of your lips restore

Possible Risks and Complications:

Your plastic surgeon and/or staff will explain in detail the risks associated with the procedure. You will be asked to sign consent forms to ensure that you fully understand the procedure you will undergo and any risks or potential complications.

Risks and risk rates vary from patient to patient depending on a range of factors. The risks listed below are possible risks associated with this type of surgery and are mentioned regardless of how remote the possibility

.....Possible risks of lip augmentation procedure include:

..............Various risk are associated with the different typesof fillers. Risks vary ..............depending upon the patient's reaction to the fillers and the healing abilities

  • Collagen: The risk involved with collagen is the possibility of an allergic reaction
  • Fat: There is the possibility of infection.
  • Restylene: Potential side effects include redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness and pain

Procedure : time required 1/2 hour

My Recovery:

The results of lip augmentation will appear gradually as swelling and bruising subside to reveal more sensuous lips. The results vary from patient to patient and the result is only temporary because the body eventually will absorbs the material.

  • Collagen: The life of collagen injections depend upon the patient's lifestyle and physical characteristics. The areas of the body more effected by mucel movement will experience a faster disappearance. Usually, lip augmentation with collagen lasts anywhere from three to six months
  • Fat: Typically the majority of patients notice half of their lip fullness disappearing within three to six months after the procedure.
  • Restylene: Experience has shown that this product can remain effective for six months. A touch-up treatment, performed a few weeks after initial treatment, is recommended to achieve better results and adds to the lips' duration.

Following your physician’s instruction is key to the success of your surgery. It is important that the surgical areas are not subjected to excessive force, abrasion, or motion during the time of healing.
